Program

The South Hill School Age Program, Inc. provides safe, high quality care for children in kindergarten through fifth grade in a warm and nurturing environment. We encourage respect for ourselves and others, and provide opportunities in recreation, art, science, multicultural education, music, and many other areas of interest. The Program's purpose is recreational, with many opportunities for learning without the structure of a classroom environment. Children are given individual choices through the daily schedule, and we also encourage and provide daily quiet time for the purpose of doing homework. 

The Program employs a Director, Administrative Manager, Team Teachers, and Teacher Aides. We hire staff who are professionals in the fields of early childhood, psychology, education, recreation,, and other child-related fields. We also enjoy the assistance of area college interns, work study students, and high school students who are monitored by core staff. "Core Staff" are the Director, Administrative Manager, and Team Teachers. Core Staff are directly responsible for the daily operation of the Program and are most familiar with your children and the Program, please communicate with them about any and all Program information or questions. Core Staff arrive by 1:30 p.m. and are mandated reporters. 

As a New York State Office of Children and Family Services registered and licensed after school program, SHSAP has a Board of Directors comprised of parents of children currently enrolled in the program. The Board of Directors hires the Director and Administrative Manager, and works with the staff to hire Team Teachers. The Board of Directors regularly meets with the Director and Administrative Manager to establish policy, procedure, program and budget oversight, operation, and review issues as they arise. Any parent interested in participating in the Board of Directors should contact the Director or Administrative Manager.
